Looking Back At 2017

January 10, 2018

Wow! What an awesome year! 2017 was full of adventures. I self-published my first novel and traveled more than I ever have in one year. I reconnected with old friends and made some amazing new author and reader friends along the way.

Join me as I look back at some of  2017's memorable moments.

I was chased by this monster. Well, maybe not exactly chased...

I helped E.T. phone home.

Hurricane Irma serenaded me with a rainbow after trying to kill me.

I attended my first baseball game. The Tampa Bay Rays vs. the Toronto Blue Jays. Why didn't anyone tell me I would be there for like five hours!

I fell asleep on a plane and awoke to a woman in the seat in front of me digging under her seat, into my purse. This was my expression while I listened to her excuse.

Ha! Ha! I know you want details. I will explain it all on a vlog post.

Four of my favorite novels of 2017.

I read them all in January and read each a second time a few months later.  A. G. Riddle and Boyd Morrison  are two of my favorite authors now.

This is the evolution of The Dawn book cover. Can you tell she's drawn from a photo of me? If only I had that body. Notice that I had to have him decrease a certain part of the body. I was like, "What are you thinking?" Men!

My travels in 2017:

Hawaii, Cozumel, Curacao, San Francisco, and other cities throughout the U.S. See the slide show below and mouse over for descriptions.

Completing my novel in 2017 was a very personal accomplishment. I was determined to get it done. It had been in the works for years. Don't be fooled. Self publishing is not easy by any means, but I stood up to the challenge and didn't give up.  The Dawn was released on my birthday, November 16th.  I was in Curacao, but still celebrated with a Facebook live launch party. That was fun!

PJ Boox is an independent bookstore in Florida that only sells books by indie authors. How cool is that? If you live in the Ft. Myers or Naples area, you can purchase a signed copy of The Dawn at a special indie bookstore rate at PJ Boox. If you are an indie author like me, here is another avenue to get your books in front of readers. Thank me later. I prefer cash--or cupcakes.

What does 2018 hold for me? I can tell you what I have planned, but it's the unknown that's exciting. All of those little unexpected blessings that come together and take you to a place where you look back and say, "Wow, this is really happening."

This year, let's be record setters, barrier breakers, and doers of the impossible. I wish you good success, peace, wisdom and understanding as you pursue your dreams. May you have the strength to endure the hiccups that may happen along the way. Push through and never give up.

Use the comment section to ask any questions you have regarding this post or anything else. I will be answering your questions via vlog. I am so very grateful for your support and I'm excited to see what's in store for 2018.  Thank you for taking this journey with me.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
